Du nauji straipsniai su DM nariais
Depeche Mode believe in new album
One frontman expects new album from the trio, appearing in Horsens.

There are probably several plates in the beleaguered synth trio Depeche Mode.

At least if we are to believe the group's leading songwriter, Martin L. Gore.

"I think at least as much on a new album, as I have done at previous times in his career," says Martin L. Gore ahead of the group's two concerts in Horsens.

They take place Monday and Tuesday.

Martin L. Gore welcomes Depeche Mode's future, although he has experienced both alcohol and drug abuse and massive internal strife through the band's now 30-year career.

Sober stars
Frontman Dave Gahan quit heroin in the late 1990s, and Martin L. Gore stopped to drink in the middle of the last world tour "Touring The Angel", which hit both Copenhagen and Aarhus.

No new songs
The slow-working songwriter considered even to write new material during the current world tour "Tour Of The Universe", but it has not yet resulted in new songs.

"It does not work for me to write when we tour. The days are hectic, and I need a lot of accumulated creativity, before I begin to write new songs."

Live-DVD on the way
Initially, fans can look forward to a live DVD from Barcelona, which is published later this year.

A wide range of concerts from Depeche Mode's ongoing world tour has also been recorded and can be purchased on CD via the band's website.

"They sell some very good, but the concert footage is not because of sales figures, it is a service for our fans.

We must recognize that people generally buy fewer discs than earlier, but we welcome that there is at least as much interest in the concerts as before. This tour is our most successful ever, "says Martin L. Gore.

FLETCH 'GOLD

Small Bulletin: Each of your tour goes systematically through the Halle Tony Garnier. You have a special relationship with this room?
Andrew Fletcher: Oh, that's a bunch of years we played in the Halle Tony Garnier and that is fine dining in Old Lyon! We love the city, the public, and unique architecture, and of Hall ... It's a must-pass, and it always takes much pleasure in return.

Can you imagine Depeche Mode still giving concerts in ten or twenty years?
Personally, I would not continue to turn past sixty years. I have no dreams of Rolling Stones. That said, the music has such power over our lives we do not know what can happen, maybe that DM also will have trouble stopping. In any case we will be there in the 2010s, probably with a new album in 2011 ...

You've gone through three decades, remaining faithful to one sound, a style. What is for you the album that sticks best every time?
I think the early 80's, 'Speak & Spell' was well on his synth-pop a bit cheesy for our first songs. Then I would say that 'Black Celebration' and 'Violator' was our best albums: for its production, the elevation which won the group. 'Ultra' was also a very important album, because at that time, Depeche Mode was disintegrating, and this is the disc that was reconstructed. Finally today, I am very proud of 'Sounds Of The Universe', because it represents the balance found between Dave and Martin.

Dave and Martin lead both parallel projects to DM. You never wanted to be "aloof" leaving a solo album?
I already made a personal album, but it was a joke album, when I was in Berlin, in a previous life. Dave played drums, Alan was at the piano and Martin and me on guitar. It has only made two copies: one for me and one for Martin, but since God thank you that I think has lost the way!
